DR Process and Architecture

The Amorphic DR process is meticulously crafted to ensure an uninterrupted operation of AWS Amorphic Platform in the face of adversity. Amorphic's foundation is built upon a multi-region setup, meticulously designed to provide redundancy and robust failover capabilities. The primary objective of this DR strategy is to minimize downtime, uphold data integrity, and align with Amorphic's business's Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO).

The Amorphic multi-region architecture is the cornerstone of this approach, ensuring that Amorphic platform remains resilient and highly available. By seamlessly replicating critical data to an alternative AWS Region, we fortify Amorphic's defenses against regional disasters.

Amorphic Disaster recovery process uses Pilot Light Architecture, which minimizes the ongoing cost of disaster recovery by minimizing the active resources, and simplifies recovery at the time of a disaster since the core infrastructure requirements will stay the same. Since Amorphic falls under an analytics solution that does not require an RTO (Recovery Time Objective) of minutes, the pilot light architecture is an appropriate solution. Pilot Light

Amorphic Recovery Point Objective (RPO):

This metric defines the maximum allowable data loss in the event of a disaster. In the case of Amorphic, the RPO is set at 30 minutes, indicating that, at most 30 minutes of data can be lost during a disaster recovery process.

Amorphic Recovery Time Objective (RPO):

This metric specifies the maximum tolerable downtime for a system after a disaster. With an RTO of 60 minutes for Amorphic, the objective is to restore normal operations within one hour of a disaster occurrence.

Amorphic Disaster Recovery can maintain a pilot light by configuring and running the most critical core elements of Amorphic in AWS. When the time comes for recovery, you can rapidly provision a full-scale production environment around the critical core

Note
  • Disaster Recovery application primarily supports read only operation for viewing the data, simultaneously querying the data using Amorphic Query Engine service.
